Mid-Week Mid-Century Roundup

Friends, today I decided to do the Craigslist post around a more specific theme: French provincial (provencal?) furniture. Something about that white finish and curved legs really appeals to me, but since I'm outnumbered by boys in my house, I don't think it'll ever make its way into my own decor.

But a girl can dream...

Curved bench, $180.

Bar, $400.

Bedroom set, $500.

Dresser w/mirror, $450.
Bedroom set, $650. See posting for more pieces that are included.

Nightstand, $20.

  1. I love this stuff, personally, and predict: A big comeback. The 12-piece bedroom set -- ooh la la, fantastique!

  2. I had the whole set of the stuff in the bottom picture when I was a kid. I got it for Christmas. Santa left me a trail of candy to the garage to follow...and TA-DA! Canopy bed, dresser, nightstands and mirror. It was special.

  3. Great post Jennie! Now it's confession time. When I was a a teenager, my grandmother got me some French Provincial furniture, a dresser and a nightstand. I loved it for a few years, and then with the advent of my punk-era sought a more minimalist decor with included steamer trunks and milk crates as accents. I look back on this time now and think, what the hell was I thinking to replace that luxe-look with something so bleak and uncomfortable! It's one of the things I'll have to do a lot of "explaining" about when I'm reunited with my dear Grandmother.
But for now, wow, that curved bench is something special!

  4. Pam: I like your prediction and hope you're right!

U.C.: That is such a cool memory!

Meredith: Your grandmother really loved you! It was very girly and most likely didn't mesh with that punk-rock sensibility you were feeling in the '80s. I'm sure she'll understand.
