James Bond Martini Recipe 3 oz gin 1 oz vodka 1/2 oz Lillet® Blanc wine
Pour the gin, vodka and Lillet blanc into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice. Shake well, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon, and serve.
I was planning myself, last Wednesday, to put the recipe for this dry martini but as one probably well knows, contemporary Lillet (Blanc) is not nearly as bitter as the Kina Lillet that Bond would have shaken, due to the reduction of quinine from 1987 onwards. The modern version is a fruitier aperitif with a pronounced orange flavour. To avoid any possible contentions regarding the martini that Ian Fleming described in his 1953 novel, Casino Royale, I chose to post a simple recipe for a Vodka Martini! I bid you a very good day!
